Adult Diversion Services (ADS)
A
pre-filing
criminal diversion program designed for the first-time misdemeanor offender. The program is four-months long. Participants receive an assessment based on their alleged criminal offense and personal needs. Individual contracts are designed to address criminal involvement and encourage personal growth. Criminal charges are discharged upon successful completion of the program.

Project Intercept (PI)
A
pre-trial
criminal diversion program designed for most misdemeanor offenders. Program requirements and functions are the same as ADS. Criminal charges are dismissed upon successful completion of the program.
Pre-trial: after filing, before adjudication
Deferred Entry of Judgment Program (DEJEP)Previously PC 1000 drug diversion, DEJEP is six-months long. Participants are required to attend weekly 12-step meetings, submit to random drug testing, attend educational groups and meet with a caseworker for needs assessment with referrals to ancillary services. Criminal charges are dismissed upon successful completion of the program.
Educational Sentencing Program (ESP)A conditional sentencing life skills program is a minimum of six month long. Convicted offenders are required to participate as a condition of sentencing. The program provides education, guidance, and support to those willing to make positive changes in their lives.
Prisoner Re-Entry Program (PRI) California Human Development�s Prisoner Re-entry program delivers transitional services to individuals returning to their communities from jail or prison. The program is intended to reduce recidivism by providing support, guidance and opportunity to newly released inmates who are willing to make positive changes in their lives. The program is reviewed quarterly by an advisory council made up of Sonoma County community service advocates, court and jail personnel. On-Site Drug Testing CHD provides on-site urinalysis (UA) testing for court-ordered offenders. UA testing includes a six-panel screen that includes: Amphetamins/Methamphetimines, Barbiturates, Benzodiazepines, Cocaine, Opiates, and THC (marijuana). Creatinine levels are measured to insure UA’s are not dilute. Drug test results are e-mailed within 48 hours via secured web-site for review.
Internship Opportunities
CHD's diversion programs offer an exciting hands-on internship ideal for criminal justice, psychology and sociology majors. Project Intercept's goal is to address the root cause of a client's involvement with the law. This can include homelessness, drug and alcohol addiction, physical and emotional abuse and mental illness. Interns are responsible for up to 50 clients, have their own offices, and must be able to work with little supervision but much support. Internship hours are paid at minimum wage.

Problem Gambling Program
CHD currently provides gambling addiction education. Two bilingual/bicultural CHD staff earned California State Board Gambling Counselor Certification. The education focuses on gambling specific treatment including; pathological gambling, legal, financial and criminal issues of problem gambling and the devastating effects it has on families.
